Given a hen that was found roaming the neighborhood, what is she?

She didn't mind her little foot spa at all Yeah...after the initial 15 seconds of fear, most chickens seem to really enjoy a warm soak...


Is there any way to tell age? Kind of, but not really...lol. It's obvious based on that one spur that she's a hen, not a pullet... If she starts laying, that'll be another clue. I've read that you can check their vent - moist and healthy looking indicates youthful... It's kind of a guessing game. Whether she lays or not, and how often, will probably be your biggest clue...

Well the couple said they were only able to catch her because she was brooding on four eggs, so she is laying (although not in the 2 days we've had her understandably).
