Hi Friends,
We were given some eggs from a lady and she said they were 4 days old and ready for a hen to lay on???
Not ever hatching eggs on our own we placed them under our broody hen. (We I’ve been trying to discourage her but she was being stubborn. That is why we decided to put the eggs under her.)
My question is, I’m not sure if one of her ladies was laying on the eggs before or what?? If the eggs had gone 4 days without a hen laying on them, will they still develope?? Sorry if that is a dumb question!! Haha I just have no idea!

Most of the time eggs that are put into the incubator may be up to a week old and still hatch. Ideally the egg should be less than 5 days old. So as long as the eggs are fertile your eggs have a good chance of developing.

That makes me feel better!!! Thank you. Just didn’t want to waste time or let her be broody with no relief.
