Any tips on giving a chicken pills? I know all the info on putting them in their mouth, etc. However, I’m worried about her aspirating the pill (that’s why we are giving pills now, because of aspiration). She’s also a picky eater and we have run out of ideas. Anyone have any sneaky tricks to hide a pill in something edible for a hen with a 3 Michelin star pallet?

I just open the mouth, & Pop one in. I do this for vitamins, & calcium tabs.

Thank you. I’m a hesitant to go this route at this time because she aspirated a blackberry due to excitement brought on by others trying to take her berry. My fear is that she may struggle when administering the pills and she would aspirate again. I’m sure I’m over thinking as a scared helicopter chicken dad.

I remove the bird from the flock when doing this. There's no chance inhaling the pill, when in a calmer environment.

I open the mouth, slide in the pill near the back of the tongue(Alittle hard to explain), & the bird just swallows.

If you have a little appleasuce or something they'd gobble up in a second, crush it up in there and feed it to them? Or dissolve in a little water and syringe it into their mouth?

Is a tablet or capsule? I open capsules and mix with a bit of coconut oil and then refrigerate until solid. My birds come running for what they think is a special treat. I think you could roll a tablet in coconut oil also.

same. Sorry to hear about the berry episode. Thats scary! one of my gals swallowed half a large cherry this morning and I was really nervous. shes only 14 weeks old.

I didn't realise their windpipe was big enough to get a blackberry down it.

I've been shoving pills down my serama's throat for a week and now I'm worrying I might not have done it right!
