Glicks Chicks: The Chick Flicks

It has been a while since I have posted an update on this thread!

Yesterday, I brought out a couple popsicles to my chickens. It was just cut up bits of canteloupe rind and flesh with water. They enjoyed that!

Today I brought them out a canteloupe that deer had ruined on my vine. I think the chickens secretely hired them to do it!

I also brought out a large frozen block of different treats! It has pepperoni we found in the freezer, green bell pepper, and plums! They don't quite understand it yet.

And I finally got a good picture of one of my gorgeous White Legbars!

Mine stare at frozen treats too! They have no idea what to do with them 😅

I have been getting some pewee eggs and monster eggs, and egg count is going back up, so I am thinking I am getting some pullets beginning to lay eggs! Too many pullets for me to go around and check everyone's bums for signs of laying.

Update on Lavender Wyandotte Chicks!

Lavender and Lilac are both doing well! They don't like human interaction because they were raised by a mother hen (and they are Wyandottes), but that was expected. They are also loners and spend 95% of their time only with eachother. The other 5% is spent laying next to their "father" (They were bought from TSC but they don't remember that).

I didn't know about the shredder gene until I had these 2. I thought they weren't getting the right nutrition. Turns out I was wrong!

I can't believe they are already 12 weeks old!

A little update:

I took in a rooster that someone wasn't allowed to keep. He is a 15 week old Golden Laced Wyandotte. His name was Lucy, so I changed his name to Louie. When he got here, he had worms. I have begun deworming him and I haven't seen any since. My chickens currently have the same worms, so it was not too much of an issue. He hasn't been anywhere near them yet, though.

I have also decided to start drying the deep litter method. I spread some wood shavings around the coop. Hops, my main rooster, is in the picture and LOOK AT THAT TAIL!! 😍
