"But anyways, they said I was lucky I wasn't eaten by a bear and said they knew I was in there. I figured they were right, and I should reveal myself, so I did."

"Well it was only Mitts, but they told me that the den had had a litter of foxes in it, and then the mother was killed. It was killed by Owl the other day, I ate some of it, but then Owl just left the kits to die and they were found and Mitts gave them a good home, whatever that means. So the kits are fine now, but I never got to follow the trail the rest of the way cause Mitts took me back to camp, and I would like to see fox kits cause I've never seen them before."

Daisy grinned. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

"Exactly," Dove said, grinning back, "here's the holes!" she said as they neared the den.

"Isn't it? But we don't have much time to waste. Here's the big den," she said, pointing with her snout, "and here's the blood trail going out of it," she said, going over to it.
