Ava stood in front of the window, trying to take deep breaths. Sure, she shouldn't have been so mean to Thomas, but what she had said was true.

Ava knew she should have nodded, accepted what she'd said was wrong, but today she was feeling stubborn. "Pick up my game? Come on, Samantha. Maybe I shouldn't have said it to his face, but Thomas isn't really helpful at all. He was going to take a wolf and release it without permission, for goodness sake! Stop defending your-your crush and get down to business! He needs to be punished, he needs to understand that he needs more training." Ava took a deep breath and looked away. "Think about it. What does Thomas actually do?"
