Kes approached the food trough and grabbed a chunk of raw meat. He chewed once, then swallowed quickly, glancing around as he did so. “Heflo, Sapphire!” He barked through the new meat that he had already shoved into his mouth.

Sapphire looked at him. "Don't you have to wait for the Alpha's first?" She asked, pretending she hadn't been planning to eat some food before them as well.

Kes continued chewing the meat, tried to respond, then realized that he couldn’t really with meat filling his jaws. He swallowed. “What, those alphers? They’re just pups playing pretend games.” He said, a surprising amount of contempt creeping into his voice.

Sapphire glanced back at them. "If they heard you, you know you'll get punished," She warned
