Mitts ran over to Willow, shoved her down, and took the full force of the angry mama bear.

The bear stopped and looked around at the wolves. Seeing she was outnumbered, she slowly backed down and lumbered off into the woods.

Mitts yowled in agony. The bear had swiped at her instead of getting Willow, and had managed to cleanly cut off her front right leg and scrape up her stomach. She looked behind her to check if Willow was okay.
