‘ Okay.’ Mitts started rethinking her decision. She was tired after all, maybe this was a bad thing to do. Her mind was scrambled, and know that she was thinking about it, Sapphire might not be okay with her liking Flame. Mitts just started trying to ease her way into telling Sapphire. ‘ So, what would you say if I told you I liked Flame?’

Mitts let out a sigh of relief. ‘ Well that’s good, because I do. I didn’t know how you would react, so I was a bit nervous. Iora told me I should talk to Flame, but right now I’m covered in blood.’

Sapphire frowned. "Well, come with me." Without waiting for a reply, Sapphire dragged Mitts to a stream and began to wash the blood off of Mitts' coat until it shined. "There."

‘ Thank you so much Sapphire. I want to talk to Flame again before I leave...’ Mitts looked back over towards camp.

‘ I have to Sapphire. Trust me, I don’t want to, but the pack really doesn’t like me much anymore, and if I stay for much longer I think Owl would kill me. She already ruined one of my eyes, the one that had blood covering it is blind now. The pack hates me and besides, I’m a dog. I don’t have the same pack instincts wolves have, so I can’t submit no matter how hard I try. Maybe dogs just aren’t meant to be in wolf packs.’

Sapphire sighed, her heart heavy. "Will I never see you again?" She secretly wanted to go with Mitts, but she knew that was out of the question

‘ I don’t know. I’m not leaving yet, but I need to leave soon. This pack is changing Sapphire, and sometimes the animals in it have to change too.’ Mitts smiled, but she felt horrible about leaving Sapphire.
