My only GLW squatted for me today for the first time. I just reached down to pet her and she squatted! Not as much as my four aussies, but about as much as my first aussies did right at the beginning about 10 days ago. I assumed she and the rest of the flock that's 17wks would be a month behind the "big girls" that are 21wks. Could she be getting ready already and might I have eggs from her sooner than I thought? Her wattles are a dark pink, not red, and her comb is hatchery quality and almost nonexistent it's so small. Just curious as this is my first time with chickens! Have to learn about each breeds particulars as I go I suppose.

My GLW took their time before laying. In fact one I am not sure if she has ever laid and egg hatched 5/17 - I hope yours lay sooner - BUT My GLW who Lays...She lays the biggest eggs! Nice big eggs! So it was worth the wait!
Let us know when she lays.....

Will do! Actually banded one of my aussie's yesterday so we could tell her apart. She laid right in front of my daughter who hadn't gotten to find an egg yet, so we made that one her chicken.

All four BA we could tell apart in the beginning since they looked a little different but now they all look the same so we just made that one hers. She was very happy!

My hatchery GLW started laying around 26 weeks old. Her comb and wattles got huge and red before she started to lay. She never has really been a swatter, so I couldn't really go by that.
