GLW at 2 1/2 weeks roo?

This one is developing differently and has more comb than the other GLW's.....I think this one might be my one roo and he isn't the friendliest of my chicks.



The GLW in the front was the one I was holding and the GLW to the back left of the roo suspect is how the others appear. Sooooo, since the comb is already developing does that mean roo?

Usually Wyandottes have rose combs, but occasionally they have single combs (your chick looks like that might be the case). Single-combed chicks often develop raised combs faster than rose-combed chicks, which could account for the difference you're seeing. Until its comb starts to turn orangey or red, don't worry about it being a cockerel, just give it some time to grow up and then we'll see

We did get 12 so if one is a roo than I guess that's about the 90% success. Thus far all 12 are thriving, so that's good. They survived the awful heat and enjoyed frozen jugs to play with and lay around (plus I think it cooled the brooder a bit).

Here "s/he" is at 4 weeks. This is also my "friendly" bird who will peck at my feet and just hang out with me. I have a feeling it could be a problem later on. Still, in my gut, feel roo.




With one of my barred Rock's and another GLW. Seems to have much bigger feet too. "roo" is in the back in the sand.

Looks like it has more waddle and comb than the others too.

I have a feeling that he won't be a friendly roo either. I will get a closer picture today, had the wrong lense on my camera. It's the only one too that hangs out around me. Why is that? Very different than the other chicks.

That definitely is a big comb - maybe it is a roo. My Wyandottes don't have combs like that though. I do have one that has larger waddles at 2 weeks and they are already starting to turn pink. I'll bet I have a roo, too.
