GMO discussion with teacher

The FDA meanwhile appears to be enforcing a policy of barring food producers from trumpeting that their products don’t contain genetically modified ingredients.

The FDA has sent a "flurry of enforcement letters" to companies that have advertised GMO-free products on their labels.

The warnings come on top of existing policy not to require food makers to disclose if their products do contain GMOs.

Dennis Kucinich said, "This, to me, raises questions about whose interest the FDA is protecting. They are clearly protecting industry, and not the public."

Not only do they not want to label they are threatening company's that are GMO free keeping them from labeling that.

Are you familiar with the Industrial Complex? or better yet the Military Industrial Complex? research it some time. Some things are just to big to change.

Sometimes when you try to change something you realize how big the thing you are trying to change really is. It may be easier to change it at your end and not worry about the rest of them. If we all did this it may change. There are groups of people out there that have done this, the Amish for one but I am not ready to be Amish... yet.

I can see your side of the issue and I halfway think it would be fine with most folks as they do not ever read labels. I also know it opens a pandoras' box of sorts for lawsuits and trial lawyers. I can hear it now "it is pollen cross contamination ladies and gentlemen of the jury".

This is nothing new. Some country's ban GMOs completely. Others require labels. The big fight is because in the country's that require labeling the GMO foods do not sell well. GMO fish are the fuss now. Does the FDA define them as regular fish? Then what? cows? Remember the movie "Space Truckers", ready for square hogs?

I find it odd that people will not buy food with side effects but take medicine that has worse side effects than what ails you. If I had a choice of buying food that said warning and one that didn't which one do you think I would buy? which is probably their argument. It has not worked with cigarettes I must say they put labels on them in the 70s'.
