goat emergency- Paralyzed doeling

I have coppasure and am trying to figure out where to get smaller capsules to bolus my does, any info would be much appreciated, I will look at the link you posted...

You can buy some cheap meds from Walmart then empty the capsules and use them or buy empty capsules at the health food stores. My aunt empties out her acidophilus capsules and saves them for me.

I'm a total moron and having major trouble figuring out what size capsule to give each doe

I have acedophilus pills, would those be the right size for my does? Do I need many different sizes? How do I pack the copper into the capsules without wasting a ton of it... I don't have a clue how I plan to do this LOL

I don't know the dose of acidophilus she uses so I'm assuming they're probably the same. It also depends on how much copper your goat needs. I had to bolus a goat that needed 3 pills

Most of the goats I did were around 65lbs and under and the copper they needed fit into one capsule. I had to buy a scale from the smoke shop first. Then I weighed it out in a little medicine cup that you use for your kids cough medicine and it pours perfectly if you bend it a little into the capsule. I know you have human kids so you probably have one of those little cups

I hope that helps. Well I guess it only helps if your going to pill them. Otherwise weigh the copper out and mix it in with some yogurt and drench them.

I don't bother with capsules. I measure out the correct dose on a digital kitchen scale (1 gram per 22 lbs BTW) and mix that with pudding. Then I cut the luer tip off of a 3 cc syringe, suck up the pudding/copper mixture and drench the goat. Easy.

I have heard the capsules can be a headache, which is why I came up with this method.

I want to bolus them... I am SO bad at math... looking at the dosage chart here... LINK so should I even make new capsules or should I use the 12.5 cattle copasure capsules I already have? I'm so easily confused

I had good success using the pills. But I'm used to pilling animals

Either way would work fine.

I called the local pharmacy's they dont' have gram digital scales to sell, I don't know of any smoke shops, I called my mom and friends noone has one I could borrow... I want to get this done now, but can't find anywhere to buy/borrow or use a scale... There are so many drug dealers around this area you think it would be easy to find one LOL

I've asked 4 pharmacy's and none have a gram scale... gonna try health food stores *sigh*
