Take pics and post them when you get back. I want to see!! Hopefully next spring I will be posting pics of my goats! My grandma is willing to give me one of her baby does then. It will be about a year old. I just need to get goening on an enclosure for her and a buddy. They are not like chickens where you can get the animal and then build like crazy!

Here's my 2 cents on the rescues...They serve a wonderful service for the animals who need "rescuing." They do vaccinate the goats, they DO NOT test the goats. They're not willing to spend the money on a bunch of tests for goats who they're hoping people will adopt for brush clearing. It's expensive for testing, I just paid $62 for CAE/CL and Johne's tests for 3 of my does.

The rescue near me accepted a friends goats who had CL and the rescue knew that's why she was giving the goats to them. So that tells me that yes, the rescues definitely adopt out animals with diseases. My friends goats were on Petfinder a week later. I personally would not have passed my problem off on someone else

~*Sweet Cheeks*~ I have 3 MiniNubian does that I'll be adopting out "if" their tests come back clean.

Good luck on your goats, I hope they work out for you. They are fantastic blackberry & poison oak control. We are going to be getting a few during kidding season (dairy and pygora) and I suspect that my neighbors are going to want to borrow them here and there for blackberry abatement

Whatever you end up with, we want pics!

I think it's just the pic that makes it look like it's head is too big. You'll see for yourself when you go look at them. $75.00 not out of line for healthy goats like that. Word of caution however goats are much pickier about what they eat than I thought. they will eat briars and weeds but not much grass, I have to cut my goat pen, lol I have three sheep on the way tomorrow that will take care of the grass, (I'm hoping) Good luck with your goats!

~*Sweet Cheeks*~ :

When I asked the gal if her herd tests negative, she answered by saying she has a closed herd and only brings in bucks from negative farms for breeding.

I think that this is not an answer. You want negative animals, insist on testing.

$75 is a bit steep for wethers, but worth it if they are healthy. Always expect to pay more for something that can be proven healthy...
