Goat getting home sick?

ok, I'm getting my first goat today!!! I read all about goats. I'm only getting 1. Will it get home sick?

It will be by my chickens and rabbits. I was thinking that I could put the rabbits in there to keep it company.

Goats by nature are herd animals and you will have less trouble with 2 as they will get lonely and get into trouble...They do better with 2...

Sorry, you CAN NOT have just one goat. They will be lonely and miserable. I thought that my first goat would be fine by himself because I have chickens and other animals too. Nope! He was so lonely. Yours needs a buddy.

Yes, you will have to have more than one goat; everyone will tell you that, especially that goat.

I have a single nigerian dwarf and she is in the same pen as my chickens & 4 rabbits and does great. The first day she fussed a lot but since then is very content and happy. My dog also sleeps net to the doorway of the pen (I think so she'll have some company being my "outside" dog) and I take her out a couple times a day to feed her her grains and to take a walk with me (the goat...not the dog...lol) Yours may be fine alone so try it first and you can always get another if he/she gets too lonely. If you only have one goat it needs a companion animal with it. A quiet, gentle LGD or even a sheep will work. But they need some sort of a companion animal to be happy. If I have one that is heavily pregnant that I want to keep alone for her safety, I put her in the rabbit colony. As long as they have a companion(s), species doesn't matter so much. Goats don't like to be alone.

I gave it back to the guy I got it from! It's was so annoying. I have a horse now! (wwwaaayyy better)

Well if it had a friend it would not of been annoying and trust me if you can't handle an animal like that for just a few days you won't have a horse very long you are in for a rude awakening i had to spend well into the thousands a year to care for just one if you did your homework and you have $$$ then the best of luck but i'm just sayin. Ps some of my goats have been more personable then my old horses so don't go sayin they are waaaay better lol
