My son's goat couldn't stand all the way up it walked on its knees in the front. Now it wont get up and is lathargic. Will drink if you put her head in the water. I have no idea what is wrong. I gave her a peniciline shot but she is no better. Looking worse. Any idea what could be wrong and what I could give her?

have you given her baking soda to help her with digestion? Also sometimes when they get like this it's worms. Go to backyardherds.com
and post there. Tons of goat breeders who can help!! Hope your goat will be OK!keep us posted

Are her feet OK? Check feet for abscess or hoof problems. Major reason they walk on knees.
How old is goat? Is she pregnant? Could she have bloat?
Does she have access to good fresh hay?

How do you give baking soda? I would hate for her to die. she belongs to my son and he is away at camp.

Not really. But what if it is? I really haven't payed that much attention to her tummy.

Baking soda helps with digestion, like a tums. Read the side of the box.
It was suggested by breeder , i give it to my goats all the time. Just poor a little in bowl next to loose mineral. You give her minerals, right?

Smell her hooves,if they stink she could have hoof rott. She won't stand on them at all?

I had one that lost motor function; couldn't hold her head up. It was polio. I caught it too late and she died. My neighbor's goat started doing the same thing and we immediately started injecting her with thiamine and she recovered.

If her stomach was distended she could be bloated. That will make them lethargic and it can lead to death. The baking soda can be mixed with water and administered by syringe.

ext.Could she got a hold of anything poisonous? I have goats and know how mischievous they are...

I would suggest you call your vet.
