are they always so inexpensive? there is a guy that is selling babies for 40-50 dollars..i thought they cost more? and it looks like it wouldnt be much to get everything i need to start with in regards to food and everything.
You can get a goat from free to $1000, just depends on what you want. Make sure you're not getting bucks or you WILL get complaints from your neighbors about the smell. Look for does or wethers...my advice.
I just want to reiterate the great advice you've already been given.
You NEED two goats, they are very social and truly need the company of another goat to be most happy and healthy.
They will chew on everything... you really have to make sure your backyard is goat proof. My dear friend just lost her best buck to a piece of plastic that blew into the goat pen ... he ate it and died from complications.
Make sure you have a goat vet lined up before bringing any home, they can be very hard to find in some areas.
My ND's (Nigerian Dwarfs) can certainly be loud. If I were in town I'd be concerned about the neighbors. So be sure to talk to your neighbors first just in case you get noisy little buggers.
Hi..i agree..you HAVE to have at least 2 goats...they really need the social interaction from another goat...honest....now, about backyards...yes!..LOL..i have 2 goats in my back yard..and i only have about 1/2-3/4 acre...i utilized my woods for them...their house/pen area is in the corner of my lot..and extends some into my woods...so, i got to keep most of my small yard intact...best of luck!..i love, love, love my goats!..
