We have a pitt and we love her like family. She is so lovable and very protective of children. We do however make her sit by the door and wait, she cannot go out until we do. She cannot come back in until we do. So on and so forth. Dogs are pack animals and they need to know their place. She is perfectly happy being (low man) on the totem pole. It is always good to have a healthy respect for anything with teeth.
I think our pitt would probably hide behind me and bark REALLY loud at the bear.
Back to the story I am so happy that your grandkids are ok. Just thinking about the possibility brings tears to my eyes. I grew up in the Rockies and I remember all kinds of stories about bear attacks. I'm always the one to say tie that in a tree, or don't leave that outside, they can smell it. Etc, Etc.
Please give the grand kids a great big smooch from me. What ever the reason you all were spared terrible tragedy. Thats cause to celebrate!!!!!
The pitt in the picture from quadcam79 is my (baby puppy).
She is SO cute.
