Going away at the end of March for 4 days

Just looked in the fridge and found the answer to how many eggs were produced while we were gone!

So only 3 eggs? Are you sure the pet sitter didn't have a few good omelets while you were gone?

:yuckyuck

I did tell her that she could take any eggs she found, but 3 seems a reasonable number considering that we were only gone for 4 days and only our tiniest little hen is laying, as far as we know!

Daphne’s limp is barely noticeable today, but I went ahead and caught her and did a quick exam. I did not see anything obvious, although her feet definitely have a bit of wear after 3 years in a rough climate. While I had her, I trimmed her overgrown nails without incident. She was actually perfect for her nail trim, better than 95% of dogs and cats I’ve dealt with! Anyways, monitoring for now.

Fun note - all that remains of the Great Barn Flood of 2019 is a small square patch of water in one hidden (or so I thought) corner of the barn. Apparently, this became the newest and hottest recreation spot while we were away. Right after breakfast this morning, the ducks took off on a mission across the barn. I followed them, and found them hanging out at their secret mini pool. Once the rest of the snow melts, we will finally be able to get rid of the last remnants of “Lake Daphne”. It will be a sad day for the ducks.

They’ll just find another one somewhere or make another one!!!

And they are welcome to do so... OUTSIDE! :lau It’s not like they don’t have lots of other options for swimming and drinking! Then again, those have CLEAN water, and clean water is clearly not nearly as fun! :he:idunno
