We are currently feeding fermented feed and some table scraps to our aprox. 9 week old chickens. What do you do when going away for the weekend? Do we only have the option of having someone come feed them or is there a way to leave aprox. 2-3 days food for the chickens so we can leave for the weekend?

When I last went on vacation I just filled the feeder with dry feed (enough to last the duration of our trip). If they've never had their food dry try to switch them over in advance so they'll get used to it.

You probably could leave a giant bowl of FF if there's a good place to put it, my only fear is it would dry out too much, or get soaked if it were to rain, if you don't have a covered feeding area.

I would get or make a feeder that would hold as much dry food that they would need. Put it out now, so they start using it along with the fermented, unless you could get someone to come every day to take care of them. I prefer not to rely on someone, but if they want to take the eggs, that's fine. What about your waterer, will it hold enough and not leak out? I always have 2 waterers out when I go away, in case one fails or empties.

I feed fermented, but I also have dry available all the time, they eat both. I use 5 gallon no waste feeders and I have two 5 gallon horizontal nipple waterers. I can go away for a week at a time with no worries.
