Going broody? Or just protective of egg?

So, a little update on how she is. She is still sitting on the nest, as protective as ever. I lifted her up (through the pain of her pecks) and saw that she was sitting on half a dozen eggs and a couple fake ones as well. I took them away from her. If she stays on the nest for the next couple nights, I will give her 4 eggs to hatch. I'm extremely excited!

Here she is completely fluffed when I was about to lift her up.

She don't look broody. Hens who begin setting usually have their combs swivelling up and their face gets pailer.

Oh don't worry I bet she is, I had a BO hen who also had a hard time committing to the job but she eventually did it took her about a week and a half to commit.

One problem an on again off again setting hen has is that every time she takes to the nest fetal growth begins, then when she leaves the nest chick development stops. This on again off again setting will very likely kill every fetus.

She was on the roost once again. I don't know how often she was on the nest because I had to go to work today. I am pretty sure she isn't broody. And if she was beginning to be, I think she got over it. I'm sure I will get many broody girls in the future so I won't be too sad, but I was looking forward to chicks.

I had basically given up hope for a broody. At least, until today. I hadn't seen her on the nest at all until after work today. She sat there puffed up and growling and doing that "scream". I just went back to the coop an hour after that and she is still sitting on the nest as protective as ever.
