So I have 8 hens- all have been well adjusted in their new coop over the past 5 weeks. I just started letting them out of the coop yesterday to free roam the yard for a few hours. All came out yesterday- 2 with help- today only 5 of 8 wil come out- the other 3 are still in the coop laying down on the bottom and seem very peaceful and grateful for some space- is this normal that some will not go outside the coop?

It's quite normal. I have some bottom birds that like hanging out in the shed. Within a flock of chickens there will be groups, or friend and those will hang out together. My flock has many subgroups and each does it's own things. I wouldn't worry, I feel the same way when I get the house to myself.
