Before you cut too much ventilation - what direction is your prevailing wind in the winter?What direction does your ventilation face?

In SD, we can get very cold heavy winds... from the North and NW. My ventilation in on the south side. I leave it open 24/7/365.

The OP is in El Paso.

That's in garden zone 8 and thus even warmer a climate than I am (I'm within a mile of the zone 7b/zone 8a border).

The doors face North East and the wind comes from the South usually.
