Going out of town...what to do with injured hen?

There’s not much room in the coop, unfortunately! I wish.
I think I figured it out! I remembered I had built a little mini coop for segregating some new chicks last year, so I put that in the coop with food and water and a little roost. Hopefully that will keep her safe until we get back! 👍

Yay! Let us know, when you get back, how it works out.

Great! You can put that in the run with the other chickens then.

We're back from vacation and the chicken is alive and well! She did well inside of the coop within a coop that I made for her and her wound seems to be healed. I think it was ideal because she was right there with the other hens, just separated by chicken wire. BUT, now that I've let her back into the flock, they STILL won't leave her alone, constantly chasing, piling up on, and pecking at her. She also hasn't laid any eggs in a few days. Poor thing. Any advice?

Unfortunately no, no crate and no neighbor that can have them in their house
Go to the pet store and get a crate. If you have chickens you will need it again eventually anyway. Walmart even has them.

Put her in it in a SECURE place with plenty of food and plenty of water. Have someone check on her.

Or bring her to Texas and I will take care of her :)

Maybe try separating her with one or two of the least aggressive hens for a few days and then reintroducing the group together so she isn't the only new one.

Thank you! We are actually back now, I put her in a secure sectioned off section of the coop while we were gone and someone looked in on her daily. She was separated from them by chicken wire but still in the same area for 6 days. She is healed but the chickens still won't leave her alone, still getting picked on.

Thanks for the update, glad to hear she did well. I like the idea of introducing her back into the flock along with a couple of other hens, provided you can find some that won't peck her. Good luck!
