Going to get my wisdom teeth out.

Only one of mine is impacted as far as I know.
The one is all the way in, and KILLING me, and the other is just starting to come in.

I was a big fat baby too! Put it off for over 10 years, and was late in my 30's before I finally did it! Both of mine were impacted, and had cavities too - these wisdom teeth really, really needed out. But I was just too scared.

My plan was just lie in bed following Dr's orders: changing my guaze, replacing my ice pack and taking my pain meds (highest dose at closest intervals for first day, highest dose for furthest intervals second day, and lower the dose third day -- can you tell I didn't want to feel pain, LOL

) Keep in mind, it is much easier to keep pain at bay, than to bring it back under control once you've let it get too bad. I had them out on a Friday morning of a holiday weekend and didn't have to be back at work for 3 days so I had plenty of time to lie in bed and let my body heal, so that's what I did.

Frankly, I'm a mom and I never get to lay around doing nothing - so maybe I milked it a bit

But I think it helped me sail through it with no complications or pain.

The two suprises were 1. that it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (I should have done it years earlier!) and 2. I did bruise a lot more than expected, but I bruise easily so I shouldn't have been suprised, even though I was. I looked like an abused wife and couldn't go into a store for about a week because of all the sideways, pitiful looks I drew!

OMG.....Reading these posts makes me feel better about getting mine out. I've been putting it off for over a year now but my husband finally ok'd having another child and I don't know if I can hold out for 9 more months. So before throwing out the bc i must get these buggers out. I think they said all were out of the bone and two are threw the gum already. I have to hurry before the hubby changes his mind.

Now the only issue is how much it's going to cost. I have a 80/20 medical pain and good dental as well so hopefully not too much as I'm dying to have a second child!!

I got all 4 done at the same time and there was no pain, but I have an high pain tolerance. I took two Excedrin before, got them done at 9am, came home by 11 and took 2 asprins, took a nap at 12, and was fine by 2. Before I took a nap, I took the stuffing out, the bleeding had stopped by then. When I woke up, I baked a cake for my grandmother's birthday party, and then went to it. By 7pm I was eating a hamburger. I just had to chew it in the front of my mouth. It was uncomfortable for about 3 days, but afterwards was fine.

I work in an oral surgeon's office.
If you are having IV sedation, remember
nothing to eat after midnight tonight, but
drink lots of water today. It keeps you hydrated,
and a hydrated body heals quicker. Make sure you
have some ibuprofen or naproxen around the house.
It helps with swelling, which is where most of the discomfort
comes from! Let me know if I can help!

Hope it goes well!

Ack thats scary!!!!

So mine might be making my other, previously perfect teeth go crooked... but they are both out of the gum on the bottom and coming in the top.... and I am NOT letting some dude put tools in my mouth ever!! Waaa! (Never had dental work... because my teeth were perfect.. boo hoo)

I had my three out a few years ago. One was fully exposed and the other two were partly impacted. I told the surgeon to numb me up and away we went. I have a very high tolerance to pain and I didn't want to spend $400+ to be put to sleep. No problems what so ever.
