Going to set a trap for another coon....

We have had a lot of problems with the have a heart traps. Coons getting in and not setting trap off or getting back out. We went on line and googled live traps and ended up getting a tomahawk trap. It has worked every time so far. Nothing has gotten back out of it or got the food out without setting off the trap. We have had it less then 2 weeks and have now gotten 5 coons and 2 possums. Good luck trapping them. Make sure the trap is big enough or the door won't close all the way and they can get back out too.

I think what happened to ours was (other than it's as old as dirt) the coon is standing in the doorway and reaching in and got the bait. I told DD that we need to use like 1 grape. Something small, so they have to walk all the way in. Or maybe they are in kahoots and working together, I wouldn't put it past them! lolol

Seriously though, I'll tell DH about the trap you mentioned, and let him know that ours may not be big enough. Thanks!

OK! Here's #2! DD and I had put an empty feed bag over the cage in case it sprinkled and the dew settling. Well it tore it to shreds! We should have known better. Lol Now I've got a mess to clean in the morning. We'll set the trap AGAIN tomorrow night, and call around to the neighbors to see if anyone else has a trap we can borrow, cause we know there are at least 2 more out there!

Wow, I do not envy you guys one bit having all those raccoons. Keep them by you, kay?

I'm glad you caught them, I hope you catch the rest of them. They're vicious buggers.

Ya'll are overrun! Is this your first encounter with these guys? How long have you had your chicken buffet set up in your area?
And if I got the comments right, you plan to relocate the coons? Oh, please say that isnt so.

You live in Kentucky and don't have a .22 or 12 ga.? It's time to correct that problem...

No, no, we have the weapons neccessary to dispatch them ourselves. But DH has a friend that makes use of the coons this time of year. Lol
