Going to set a trap for another coon....

when we set our trap we dig a small hole and set a can of sardines in the hole just to where the top of the can is even with the ground. then we set the trap on top of the sardines and the sardines are sitting at the back of the trap. then we place 8 inch concrete blocks on the 2 sides and the back.

You guys/gals are a wealth of information!

And by golly, can you guess who we just happened to find in our fancy metal hotel tonight? That's right bandit #3!

Guess we'll be hunting again tomorrow night....to be continued.

chiknhut DH put up boards on every side and on top, just to make sure it didn't have easy access to the bait from outside the trap. Guess it worked! No escapees tonight, except bandit #4. Lol

Just might be... We are surrounded by creek on 3 sides of our property, with woods all around. Years ago before our oldest DD, ummm 14 maybe, we had chickens alot closer to the house, and soon wised up to the coons. That's why we have the chain link walls instead of anything else. We MIGHT just have to put it on top of the run as well! The pic of the fur in the bent back chicken wire was stapled to an OAK board with BIG heavy duty staples (hammered in)! Didn't even faze the coon, acted like it was tissue paper....
