Going to try again after unsuccessful hatch. Fingers crossed.

Our first attempt at incubating didn't work. We set only 6 eggs since it was our first time and figured we might screw it up. Only 2 made it to lock down, but when I candled at day 24, only about half the eggs were dark, so I don't think they even developed all the way.

We have a borrowed LG still air and are trying our best with it. I'd obviously like something better, but I don't think we'll be regularly incubating. This is for a science fair project. Still super excited for peepers though of course!

Last time I kept the humidity low around 25% up until lockdown and then raised it to 65%. Temp was steady at around 100-102 since it is still air. We have an auto turner.

This time we candled ahead of time to eliminate porous eggs. All the eggs we crack to eat are fertile, so I would imagine these are all fertile as well.

Since this is for a science fair project, we want to take candling pictures. I plan on candling on days 4, 8, 12, and right before lockdown. Too much?

Any advice to help us would be greatly appreciated! I have left the incubator on to keep the temp steady. We are setting the eggs tonight. Thanks!

If I were you I would bump your humidity to about 45% and keep it steady through the whole hatch.... I would not up it for hatch. Is your hygrometer accurate? What type of thermometer are you using (analog or digital, where on the eggs is it located?)

I candle often and don't have any problems. Good luck to you

This is also my second attempt at hatching eggs. The first one left me with one silkie chick who is 13 days old now. I have 12 in at 99.5 degrees and 35 to 40 percent humidity. I have an LG with a fan and turner. I candled last night and am sure that 8 are good. The other 4 were hard to tell so I left them in. I will check them agan in a few days. I am hoping that all of these hatch. Good luck with your hatch!
