Gold Laced Orpington- For Learning and Sharing

Pics
OMG Lynn! I thought I was the only one that spent more time on the ground than standing up? Glad you're okay!!!!!!!!! Don't even give the typos another thought! Just get to feeling better!

BOY OH BOY!!!!! Can I ever relate to this problem....LOL I have been standing outside my GL's coop cheering them on the whole time! My Roo mounts and then nothing in the incubator.....GRRRRRR!!!!!! First it was the moult....then moved to a new coop...stress......then I had to put a saddle on 1 hen and the Roo freaked out and wouldn't touch her.....Took the saddle off and he's back to mounting....but NOTHING!!! The other day I got DESPERATE.....I cut the feathers from both the hens and the roosters vent areas. Have some eggs in the bator now....PRAY THAT THEY ARE FERTILE!!!!!! If I don't get anything now......I will be visiting my Vet to do test on my Roo to see if he is fertile. If he is then I'll "AI" him....if not...I'll contact the seller! GRRRRRR!!!!!! So, I DO KNOW THE FRUSTRATION! Everything else on my place is giving me beautiful babies......but I've been wanting GL for SOOOOOOO LONG! I finally get my breeders and this happens. Just not fair! GL are my most FAVORITE out of ALL THE ORPINGTONS! There is not a more striking bird around!

Ya'll are killing me with these sweets! I'm going to the kitchen right now....horrible insomnia tonight(4:00AM) ,,,,,,,,,and I'm finding me something sweet even if I have to cook! And I have pecans.....LOL
Thanks sweetie! arnt these birds a treat? Im having a blast with this..just when I think Ive seen it all, there is one with blue in it..OMG I have so much to learn..

So much to learn indeed! Maybe someday we will convince you Aveca to keep these babies and present them in shows.

I just remembered that in my humble little website if you look at the tab that has the pictures of my juveniles, in the last picture of Rock Star you can see his fluff lacing at 7 months. You can also compare the fluff lacing in the pictures of Max. I point this out so that those thinking of breeding these treasures don't make a decision in haste. It takes time. When I photograph the boys, you will see a difference even between 7 months and now 8 months.

Julie, did your friend ever say if they were GL Blues? Looks like they might be.

A English friend sent me this pic several years ago from a show he attended in Germany. I saved it for future reference and just remembered it. Thought I would share it with you GL breeders. It was pointed out to me the lacing all the way in the fluff.

Dont you love the way they used the yellow paper as a backdrop to enhance the picture.

WOW! sometimes I wish I could just reach over there, pull the continents back together so we could drive to these shows...I would get lost in these shows for hours and hours looking ...talk about type.my goodness .

Look at how they think everything out, even the background color to show them off..

We didnt talk about that. Just the lacing and type. I am looking forward to updated pics of yours

I second that! I don't think other countries rush the breeding like we do here. You really see nice type in other countries.

Well Dee, I might have to add another pen line when the barn goes up.hee hee..I think the public would be delighted to see these ..

They deserve to be seen!!! Don't get my hopes up. I can save you some for showing. It will be the only way to promote them. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I think it would be nice for everybody..Pretty sure you would be one busy lady..lot of people will want them..Might have to get out that pencil and sharpen it ..look over the grounds..

Thank you for the warm welcome also... This is such an exciting adventure! Your birds are beautiful, do you have any GL Blue? How long have they been laying? Ours started just a bit ago & the size of their eggs are huge 2.3 oz. biggest eggs we're getting from anyone except our Jubilee's which is about the same size. Now I hope we have fertile eggs in the incubator
