Thank you both so much..I feel so fortunate to have met you both and to have such lovely birds. They are so calm and mellow and like to be loved up a bit. So sweet to all the other birds.

Day 18....Whew! Made it to lockdown....temp. and humidity have been good so far... I've been using 2 independent thermometers this time. And only touching the incubator to add water except for a brief candle on days 6,14, and today. Oh m y goodness...I'm so nervous!!! I hope they all hatch on time.

Good luck!

SKUNKED!! She pipped Friday morning right on time...we left for school and by the time I got back she had died. The hole was about the size of a pea so she had been working at it. I opened up the rest the way in hopes of finding a clue...yolk was absorbed....no other obvious signs....chick was big, but so was the egg. Over all a good hatch with 86% hatch rate, my poor little GLO was just one of the few that didn't make it.. :(

The rest of the chicks did hatch a day early so my temp. must be a little high. But the chicks that did hatch are normal size...not big and squishy. No other chick that hatched seemed to have any trouble at all. Humidity was good all the way through....any ideas?

I am so sorry to hear that. Sometimes that happens. For what ever reason sometimes they just get exhausted while working on the shell. But you never know when it might be too early to intervene and cause death by opening the shell before they absorb all of the vital blood from the many veins encased inside the shell

(yeah, I have done that...........)

I don't think you did anything wrong. Good luck next time!
