I need some sex link help I usually can know the difference but this golden comet hatched from under my broody and all the easter eggers hatched but only the one golden comet hatched and I have no clue if it's male or female I think male judging by the wings just weird coloring for a second link to me

Did you hatch this from an egg laid by a golden comet covered by another golden comet, a golden comet covered by another breed or did you put a red cock over a silver hen and, if so, what two breeds were used?

What do you think about a barred rock hen with a rir rooster

I've got one about 6 weeks old, here she is. I'm told she is a black sex link pullet.

When I breed/hatch golden comets, Pullets are Red/Brown and the Cockerels are yellow/white. If my dang IPhone would let me upload a pic with this app I'd post a pic of them side by side.

The question is is she breeding golden comet hens to golden comet roosters and calling those golden comets or is she properly crossing a red gene rooster over a silver gene hen to create sex linked chicks as a result? The former will not result in chicks that are sex linked as GC do not breed true and, as a result, the chicks will not conform to the standard sexing rules for newly hatched GC.

is there a mating that will produce a "cleaner look" than a normal Red Sexlink? my RSLs lay like champs and all but their color is just way less attractive than a solid colored birds like my BOs and RIRs. my RSLs have a lot of white under feathers. can a sex link have a more uniform solid color?

For uniformity you will be better served looking into "auto-sexing" breeds than trying to work with sex-linked crossings - the trade off there is in production rates. The nature of sex links is that there is not uniformity of color.

Are gold sex links, gold comets, gold stars all the same bird just multiple names? And if so are the color varieties such as red stars, red comets, black comets, black stars, red/black/brown/gold sex link all just the same breed with a million names for each color variety? Does the egg/meat size/production vary for the different colors? Sorry for all the questions but BYC is the best place i have found for knowledge and this question has been bothering me for quite a while now

only because after months of researching and planning my flock i have decided that i'd like 2 red stars to be a part of the family yet nobody in my immediate area has red "stars", they all have red comets, gold comets gold sex links, black stars, etc. Their color truly doesn't matter, they are all adorable, but if they all produce the same 250-300 large brown eggs per year i'd be happy to stop waiting it out and finally get my chicks! lol!

Also i can't order online as i can only have a total of 5 and i have gone to LITERALLY every hatchery and farm website i can find (even outside the US) and i'd either have to pay tons in shipping, order at least 15, or get them all at separate times and pay expensive shipping each time.
