So basically, a white (gold based) or Gold Silkie cockerel is crossed over a Light Sussex hen to produce a bird that sits well, like the Silkie, but that is more practical and larger, like the Sussex. As the cockerel is Gold based and the hen is Silver based, they are red sex-links, with the pullets hatching gold and the males silver.
