I just hatched out 5 Buff Brahmas and what was called Golden Blue Brahmas. My question is, are the Blues in Brahmas a pure breed, or are they a cross breed?

The only accepted varieties for Brahmas are light, dark and buff. Any other colors (partridge/blue partridge, lemon blue, laced, ect) are project colors. They may have had something mixed in to bring in the color and then were bred back to Brahmas to get back those traits for the breed. They might be considered pure at this point, but they can't be placed on champion row at any shows. I believe, if you were to show them, they'd be shown AOV and couldn't place higher than BV. There's a Brahma thread in the Breeds section, lots of folks have non standard varieties, and they're lovely!

Thank you for your reply. I was not planning to show these beauties but thought I might breed them if they will breed true. I don't know if they are partridge or not. I liked the look of the parent stock.
