I have been breeding a Rhode Island Rooster with White Leghorn hens. (Supposed to be Sexlink, I think.) All of the chicks have been white, some with a few black tick marks. I was under the impression that the chicks would be either light brown (pullet) or white (roo). Just confused on it. Is that the correct combination to get golden comets?
Thanks for any input.

White leghorn hens don't work for sexlinking. What you want to do is breed a gold male to a silver female, not a gold male to a dominant white female.

Since leghorns are dominant white, all your chicks will be too, with a little bit of color leakage, hence the black spots you are seeing. So you haven't made sex linked chicks, just general mixed breed chicks.

Thanks for the info, what hen would you breed with the RIR Roo to produce the Golden comet?
