This is my beautiful Saffron. We got her abour a year ago thinking we were getting two buff orppingtons, but obviously she is not. I have been telling people she is an Isa Brown but now am wondering if she is a Golden Comet. I know Roo is RIR or RIW and Hen RIR or RIW for either of those, and it is hard to tell from pictures on the web what she is. Can anyone help? More curious than anything. I would love to say "Her father was a RI"X" and her mother was a RI"X"", but I just don't know.

Maybe those are two names for the same cross?

Golden comet, gold star, Isa brown, red sex-link...all the same bird. Just a bunch of different names for them...BUT....red sex links are a much darker red than that. I don't know if I would call her a RSL...

Pretty chicken - my "back yard Buff Orpington " is looking a lot like her.. I just hope she stays healthy and lays lots of eggs! My Bernadette is my favorite chick and everyone is totally in love with her, but a BO she is not..

I have a rsl (red star) and she is more red than that. She is my best layer she started laying in January and has only missed one day since then. The day she missed was the day after a double-yolker so I think she deserved the day off

Yours is very pretty I hope she lays as well as mine.

Thanks everyone. Clear as mud!

I guess I will continue to call her an Isa Brown. She is amazingly textured in color, but definately on the "buff" side vs. the "red" side of color. We love her very much and she is a great layer. Acts a lot like our other RIR in terms of temperment.

Thanks for the link Missi. I have actually been to that sight, which is where I got the origional idea that she was an Isa Brown. I am sticking with it!

Thanks Again!

Sabrine
