Is anyone here have golden comet chicken? i have just got 4 from my friends and i would like to know information about this chicken. thank you

Kim the pride owner of 11 americanas chicken and now 4 golden comet.

We have some Golden Comet. They're docile, friendly, and good with our kids. They can tend to end up at the bottom of the pecking order in a mixed flock, though.

They're great little egg laying machines. They'll lay brown eggs, and they're generally reliable layers ... you can get nearly an egg a day, so with a healthy and happy four hens, you can probably expect about two dozen eggs a week once they mature.

They're a great "starter chicken" for anyone wanting to get started on a chicken hobby, too.

I have one. I've been told they are sort of a "production" hen, bred to lay alot. As such, they aren't long lived birds-- only about 4 years or so before pooping out. So much egg-laying energy expended.

We'll see if this proves to be true. Our GC, Mae West, is very friendly and a little bossy.

I have two, 8 week olds, so far, Janis and Jelly tend to keep to themselves and like the post above, seem to be on the bottom of the pecking order.

I have 4 GCs and 4 mixed breeds. The GCs are at the top of the pecking order and are kind of aggressive with the lower ranks. One of my mutts hatched out 8 chicks and the GCs have tried to attack them. The mama has now really started standing up to them and now they aren't as bad. I've been free ranging them all at once and no problems.. I still keep them separated in the run just incase, They are about 2 weeks old. Oh, the GCs don't have any motherly instincts so most likely won't go broody.

I have 6 hens (red star is another name), our neighbor has 12--10 hens and 2 roosters. Her roosters are very docile and tolerant. When we go over to visit, our daughter enjoys picking up "Brewster" and carrying him around. He just sits in her arms, wide-eyed but docile. The roosters do tend to be vocal though.

I have 12 gold comets, very seldom I don,t get 12 eggs every day, they are gentle, but a bit noisy when it comes snack time,I am very satisfied with mine,,Im not sure if they have a pecking order, they never fight among themselves, but I don,t know how social they would be with another flock,,

I have a golden comet named Ethel. She is super sweet and follows me around the yard like a puppy dog. She is so gentle but agressive at feeding time with the other birds. I guess it is bird by bird. I did get a couple more birds like her, hoping they will turn out like her. Oh and I get an egg a day from her.
