They are a pair - pullet and cockerel??

I am excited to see pictures as they grow and feather

I take it they are in the "ugly" stage, lol. Reminds me of my cornish x feathering out.

What are you saying? You don't think they are the prettiest little birds you have ever seen. Kidding aside. I am hoping they grow into some lovely birds. I will try to post updated pictures weekly.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if with a little care, they don't feather out fairly quickly but right now, I would call them..."Uglier than a silkie!" LOL.

I certainly hope so. They both have pretty thick legs which is throwing me off but I know that is a English Orpington trait.

Yes, the thick legs can really be a shock on pullets (I have a couple hens mixed with english blood). I really like them with the really nice full body - they need those thick legs to hold them up.

I was just looking at the color in their faces - but it could just be the pictures/my monitor also.

How old are they?

How are your GL Orp projects coming along? (besides eating you out of house and home

My project is slow. The pullet that I posted awhile back is now a hen. She is not a great layer which doesn't help move things along very fast. I have her in a separate pen with one rooster as those chicks should be great if I can ever get any of them. I will have to get her recent pictures up as she is quite lovely.

I was told that the chicks I received yesterday are 5 weeks old, however I believe one must be a little older since she is bigger. They actually look a lot in appearance to my project chicks so that indicates to me that I am on the right path since these birds are "true" Golden Laced Orpingtons. These birds will hopefully add the size that I would like to the my project. Since the projects are totally non related birds, they will be good to get different blood into the imported birds also.

I have several generations into my project birds with only the very first cross being outside the Orpington breed so the current birds are very Orpington in type.

Here's some new pictures of the English Golden Laced Orpington Pair. I believe they have made quite a bit of progress from what they looked like a few weeks ago. The pullet is fully feathered now. The rooster is mostly feathered, however his feathers just came in this week so his are sticking out all over the place.

These are updated pictures of the project pullet and the project rooster she is with. The rooster got his comb frozen last winter and that is why it looks funny. He is the rooster on the first post, I believe the last picture. The hen is the pullet I posted pictures of in the Spring. It is pleasing to compare the two sets because it shows me the project birds are really close to the English Orpingtons which is what I set out to accomplish.
