The hubby frowned because I have 20 new chicks at home. But then said you better get some so I don't have to come back.

He tries to say they are for me so we will let him think that! Anyway I picked up 6 Golden Laced Wyandottes. I'm wondering about the temperment and size when full grown. I would love to see some pictures if anyone has any.

I love my GLWs - I find them beautiful, hardy and good foragers. Size? About like the rest of my standard hens - BOs, BAs, RIR, BR. Temperament? They live in harmony with the other hens, are cooperative with me, fly over the 4 ft fence the minute I open the coop, often lay their eggs somewhere other than the nesting box, and sometimes go broody. Here's one of mine, that just hatched out 9 chicks.

Thanks! The first time I bought GLW chicks it was solely because the photo of the mature hen on the feed store poster was so beautiful. Mine are from Mt. Healthy hatchery, via the same feed store.

I love the top pic with the baby peeking out from under mom, too cute!

The hen is beautiful! I can't wait to move to the country!

Since you like the photos so much, I guess I will submit one for Picture of the Week! Which one do you like best? The one with one little chick peeking out?
