Golden Pheasant Breeding

Does anyone know the maximum number of females I can put with a single golden pheasant male?

I haven't had golden pheasants in a LONG time, but I kept as many as 5 or 6 hens with one cock and had good fertility. Perhaps some more up to date breeders will respond.

Well that depends on the size of your pen also.You don't want to overcrowd them,but 5 or 6 hens in a 16x16 might work.But if your pen is bigger then great.

I have 12 red golden females that where born this spring , and i just bought a 2 year old red golden male. I had no idea of how many females to put him with and if the females will be ready for next spring but i guess that 5-7 will be a good number.

Throw another male in there.They should get along with that many ladies available to them.How big is your pen?

Well i got 3 separate pens one is 12x12 the other 6x12 and 6x6. I got a pair of lady amhersts that will go in the 6x6 pen and i only got one unrelated male and it was not easy to find one this time of year so i guess i will put him with 6-7 females in the 12x6 pen. The problem is i got a 15 related males and females so i will have in the 12 x12 until they are sold

I have 5 Yellow Goldens 2 males and 3 female in a 10ftx10ft pen. So far their getting along just fine but I'm not sure what will happen when this springs male starts getting in his what do you say "adultness"?

Well most likely they will fight each other because you got a few hens but one always never knows what will happen; it really depends on how the dominant male reacts to the other male once the fully mature and are in breading season.
