Golden Reds

I could be WAY off base here, and I generally am, but if Goldie is a red sex link then isn't it the boys who are the whiter color? Could Goldie be a Roo????

Okay! I did get my birds backwards, I will admit it.

I'm not one who won't! The RIR, or Production Red is the rooster and the Delaware is the hen. How I got that mixed up, I don't have a clue! I gave 6 cockerels to a fellow BYC'er so she could cross them with her Delaware's and make a sex-link.

My Golden Comets hens are my favorites: they are chatterly little things as soon as I call to them, they follow me around, lay great eggs and aren't flightly or skiddish.

What a lovely flock you have! Red sex links can be made by combining the following birds:

Roosters: Rhode Island Red or New Hampshire Red

Hens: White Rock, Rhode Island White, Silver Laced Wyandotte, or Delaware

This cross generally produces a calm, docile, cold tolerant and confinement tolerant bird that lays eggs like it's going out of style. You'll love them. I will never have a flock missing a red sex link.
