Anyone that has sebrights? What kind of temperament do they have? Get along with other standard chickens?

There's a member called "LittleChickenRacingTeam" on BYC. He's got a golden sebright who poses for a lot of his pictures. Maybe you could find him on the User List and PM him.

My absolute favorit breed!!!! I have bred the golds and the silvers. These birds can be the most annoying things at time. Try having 30 of the free ranging and running around your feet every time you leave the house, not to mention what happens if you sit down on a lawn chair...... they are all in your face. No problems picking them up or anything, most of them love to just ride around on the shoulder or something. I had a lady come by one day and she wanted to know if there are chickens that she can use for therapy of her disabled son. I gave her my favorit seb roo cause she just fell in love with him right then and there when he walked up to her and sat down on one of her feet and just went to sleep(she called him Buddy, he loves to sit on her sons lap and just chill while being pet).

Of course they can go the other extreme, I got a hen from a guy that barely handles his birds and when he does he is very brutal(pull them out of the cage by a leg or a wing kinda thing). This hen would run and hide if she just heard you coming and if you catch her she would rather kill her self then let me hold her....... a sad sight if you have others that are so tame. After 3 yrs she was just as much of a bug tho.

Right now I am sadly Sebright-less...

thanks to a weasel...... oh well, maybe end of the summer I may get some more.

I have silver sebrights........I love their color, love their type. That said, I do not like their personalities. Now, that's just mine, I only have 3 hens and a roo. I got them from different people, but as 2 week olds and I handled them all the time. ALL THE TIME. they run from me, the roos attack and 2 of the hens do. One of my roos went bye-bye, because he was so aggressive.

I am gentile, talk softly and give lots of treats.......I get no love back. I am setting a couple eggs from them (I am setting some orp eggs for a friend so I thought what the heck) and I am hoping if I hand raise these they may turn out different. I am encouraged by the fact so many of you have positive experiences with yours.......

edited for spelling. Doh!
