Wow she's an old lady! I didn't realize chickens live that long. She must have gotten excellent care for her entire life.

Bantymum, I feel so bad for you having to go through this, not knowing what's wrong or what to do for her.

If she was mine, I wouldn't be in a hurry to have her put to sleep. Gee, those vets are just guessing and have no real idea of what's even wrong with her. They've given you totally unrelated theories on what's wrong with her, none of which are based on any tests. I also doubt that a vet would be giving her only three days to get better, if she was a hyacinth macaw, instead of an elderly chicken.

If you felt like she was suffering, seemed to feel really ill, wasn't wanting to eat or drink, that would be a totally different thing, but that hasn't been what you've been describing.

Anyway, I want to encourage you to do what you feel is right for you and don't let anyone pressure you into doing anything you don't want to do.

Im sad to say that my dear friend has gone to heaven.
I could sense she was suffering
She lost heaps of weight in these last few days
and didnt wish to eat today.
I have sent her bloods to be checked.
The vet does suspect Mareks.
Im sorry Goldie, that you had to go this way.
