Gonna let her sit on eggs

This is just my experience but I also had a broody hen with a nest high up off the ground. Anyways I also wanted her to hatch chicks and we gave her fertilized eggs but when I tried to move her to a lower nest she was there no longer broody. If you don’t want to move her maybe you can just cover up the door closer to hatch day and let’s her hatch the chicks and then move her to a different nest lower on the ground. I hope that helps a little! Also I wouldn’t worry too much about not seeing her get off the nest. Usually they’re only off the nest for about an hour a day so if you don’t see it that’s perfectly fine they’re probably just getting off the nest when you’re not around to see it!
thank you!!! first time jitters

First let me tell you how much I love your nest boxes.
Aw thank you!

she was out with the other girls when I got home from work. Then my first thought was "great" now she's not going to stay broody and I've got 6 eggs due to arrive in a few days!!!
My broody gave me a scare this past spring, too - she went outside to hang with her friends (instead of just taking care of business and going back in), and she spent THREE hours just hanging out outside!!! I thought she'd quit. That was before I gave her the fertile eggs though, so they weren't jeopardized. She'd been sitting on infertile eggs. I gave her 3-4 more days to be sure she's committed, before giving her the fertile eggs. The eggs were 1 week away from hatch and already moving in there, which I think she could feel, and it gave her extra motivation. After I swapped the eggs, she sat tight and only got up to eat/drink/poop quickly. She hatched and raised all her chicks and was a great mom.
