Good book

Kids are 2 and 4. The 4 year old would be good, and just so you know she has more childrens book than some schools. She wants to get them all the time. So a Library isn't nessacery to love books, you just have to show them. And I think ours still charges if you live in the city. They so do a program where a bus like thing drives around and gives kids one book a week for free, but they don't come out to me I live 15 minutes out of town. I just would rather have one of my own for ref. I have been around chickens since I can remember. And I have the best teacher "Grandpa" BUt he isn't always going to be around. Thanks for your input though.
(recently my 4 mo.old puppy played with my 2 pullets. one passed away and the other is still alive. I didn't know what to do for them so that's when I joined here. and tons of people helped, but some just slammed on me. I was so upset. they told me I was crule and unprepard. Thats why I'm asking for a book. Hoping theres one out the with remidies, of first aid in there.) I do know quite a bit about chickens. Just not everything.

As for library cards, they've never been free in my neck of the woods. If you live within a library district, the fees are paid through property taxes. Years ago, an out-of-district card might have cost $25 per year. But now, if you don't live within a district, the library charges a fee based on assessed valuation.

I found Storey's Guide to raising Chickens by Gail Damerow to be extremely detailed and answers just about any question you could have. For a flcok emergency such as you describe, I would think that would be the book. It comes in paperback and is not expensive. I ordered mine from Amazon.com.

Thanks I felt like those mother hens were pecking me to dealth. I just wanted to know a good book I didnt need mothering advice.

Chicken Health Handbook by Gail Damerow. But read it with caution as it's likely to scare the crap out of you. You'll walk away thinking "all my chickens will die!" But you just have to realize that this book is written on the perspective that it's more economical to replace the bird than treat it. Also, keep in mind that many diseases resemble each other. Then read it slowly and try not to freak. Lol, it's a really wonderful book though.

Holy crap, I got on half.com and looked up those books you suggested. and A Guide to Raising Chickens: Gail Damerow
some people were asking $98.95!!! and the list price is like 18.95. What are they thinking? lol. I've found a bunch though. Thanks

I bought mine from Amazon, I just checked now:

available brand new for $12.32

I get free shipping from them, but even if you have to pay a couple of dollars, it's pretty cheap.
