Hi guys, I'm looking for some chickens that do well in winter and are good layers (possibly lay every/every other day). But I also want them to be nice and not mean (even though almost all chickens are nice!)

Hi again, Hope! For every breed out there I'm sure there are any number of people claiming they are the breed to get! Buff Orps are reckoned docile and sweet by lost of people. Again, I like the Black and Red Stars - calm, friendly and great layers. My Speckled Sussex is perhaps the sweetest chicken in the flock. For the best layers it's hard to beat the Leghorn but I don't recommend it for MN - the large comb that is so good for regulating heat often gets frost bite in the bitter cold.
