I am Sandy and I have been lurking around here lately, so I guess I should tell you about myself. I retired from active duty in 2016 and came home to my property here in north west Florida. At that time, I built a chicken coop and bought some chicks from the local feed store to supply my husband and I with fresh eggs. Last year I started raising some cornishX for meat and that has gone extremely well. This year I thought I would do something a little more sustainable, so I ordered some straight run dark Cornish chicks from the hatchery (along with a few other DP birds to try out). I have had dark cornish for dinner in the past and really enjoyed them. So now I am spending my days building some more chicken pens while the chicks are in the brooder in the barn, and in the evenings, I get to lurk around here. It’s great to be retired.
