Good dogs for chicken protecting?

i looked back over my pics and for some reason my dogs always have that just woken up look when I get a pic??????????

Here's Azland my puppies daddy. He is awesome with the birds... my geese climb and bite all over him and he just sits there......

Well, I know what kinds of dogs have been horrible for us.... Labs, lab mixes, hound mix, pointer/wimeraner mix, basset hound mix, golden retriever mix, german shepard, pit bull, schnauzer, rat terrier, jack russel terrier, husky, and numerous terrier mixes. We only ever had 2 dogs that wouldn't eat the chickens and that was a great pyrenese mix and a catahoula (we actually thought they were killing the ducks until I caught the rat terrier red handed.)

NOt all of these dogs were ours, some were and had to be rehomed because they were so chicken crazy, but most are chicken thieves owned by various neighbors. My neighbor does have a pit bull that is very good with the chickens and will not chase them, but he is a cat killer... go figure.

I think if we ever get another dog it will be a great pyrenese puppy so we can hopefully have a dog that doesn't kill chickens at the slightest chance she gets. Right now we have resigned to having our dog on a run near the coop so she can scare away predators but the chickens can get away from her. She wont harm them at all when we are outside, so we let her run free when we are out there along with our new goat who thinks she's a dog lol.
