good duck coop design?

D'Angelo N Va. :

Ok. Maybe I missed something. Why do u want your ducks off of the ground?

Because we have lots of coyotes and foxes and racoons in the area and i dont want something digging under the pen, I also dont want the mud problem, and with it raised i can put the stall mat under it, catching the poo and then i can wash it off everyday with no raking, managing smell. plus i can put a hose under the pond and have gravity drain the pond for me, it just is overall alot easier to manage

For small, light ducks an elevated coop makes a lot of sense. The only disadvantage that I can see is that it's more difficult to let the birds out in to the yard if you wanted to do that. But with flying calls you might not want to let them out anyway!

Looking forward to seeing it being built.

their wings are clipped and they will be let out in the warmer months for a few hours each day, but only if we are outside with them ( we dont want anything taking them)

You could put the wire on the ground, then the rubber mat over top - and still hose it down.

then i would still have the problem of draining the pond, i would ahve to lug it out every day and dump it (where i would dump it is pretty far thats why i have the hose)
