Good Friday setting take a pic. of your eggs in your bator and join me

Congratulations!!!

As for the question, I was worried about that myself - most of mine didn't look like the membrane had been broken at all either - not until they zipped. In fact with a couple, that pip barely looked like a pip - more like a bump in the shell, but the all hatched! I got a 100% hatch with my turkeys

Wishing I'd left my chicken eggs in the incubator myself. I normally advocate for nature no end but nature didn't seem to do very well for my chickens - two chicks out of six eggs that made it into lockdown

well, three but one of those died shortly after hatching

I guess there's still time on the remaining eggs but I'm not holding my breath.

I lost most of mine. Rookie mistake. The temp probe for my controller got malpositioned and let my bator over heat. I will need to fasten it better. On the flip side. I had some in the other bator. I have a wellie and a red golden pipping this morning when I left for work. I only have 3 wellies and 5 red goldens that will have potential to hatch:(, but have more set each week for next 2 weeks , then I may done for a while. I have sold quite a few chicks and hens, and hope to have 50 plus roos sold to ethnic market for consumtion. My young uns are laying and Farmers market starts in June. Will just sell eatin eggs through the heat of the summer. May test hatch select matings, but will put most of the stuff up.

Yikes...This is really fun though. I might try turkeys too at some point. I was a little bit worried as 4 hatched before I could get home for lunch. If I had seen those hatch I might know better what the membrane was supposed to look like. I have four at home that are under the membrance but pipped out of the shell. Hoping they will be fine.

I'm sure they will be. A few of mine didn't break the membrane all the way round when they zipped either. I was worried they'd not be able to push out but they made it out just fine - it kinda looked like it had been shredded if that makes sense.

So exciting though huh?

The only problem is that I'm REALLY struggling with the absence of my incubator and not checking on my eggs lol. The poults are awesome but I'm really feeling a void where the faint hum of my bator once was

DH is point blank refusing to let me buy more eggs

.This was the last chick she was stuck in the shell, when she zipped she couldnt get around the egg , so she just couldnt seem to get loose from shell. So on sat. day 22 after no progress over night I helped break shell off of her . She seems to be ok
