Good meat bird?

They're tasty, but they'll grow much more slowly (process at 14 - 16 weeks instead of 6-8 weeks) and the meat will be tougher, with a stronger flavor than Cornish X. They are a decent dual purpose bird if you want eggs and meat from the same breed.

I thought they are a good dp bird. in fact they are the X in cornish X
Maybe back at the start when they began the broiler project so many years ago. But they have been specializing that breed for so long that I wouldn't consider them a cross of the original breeds at all.

Cornish X are so far gone from the original crosses, it is almost a sin to keep calling them Cornish Cross. They are Broilers.

If that is the worst sin I ever commit...I´ll be okay!

The original lines were, way back when, white rock and white cornish...right?

ergo; the X is originally a white rock.

anyway, it seems that a rock (white or otherwise) is a dual purpose bird. ergo, it can be raised for eggs and meat.

It seems to be personal preferance on DP which ones are the best raising or tasting meat birds, other than the size of the adult bird (which is easily found if you look up the sizes of each breed) but unless you find a breed you like from personal experience or from research on temperment you may be as well of buying a "special" of roosters (sometimes called a rooster or frypan special) because you get the hatcheries leftovers and usually (though not always it depends on the hatchery) a cheaper price.
